Crittall Metamorphosis

Crittall windows, back in 1920’s, were the Rolls Royce of windows. Slim frames and a flat look were once the designer choice for country houses built during the interwar period. However, since that time, many of the old steel windows have deteriorated, become draughty and are exceptionally cold.

The new owners of this property were initially hesitant about replacing the windows, as they were afraid to alter the period feel of the house. In order to attract more light into the property, the new window design needed to be less intricate. “Upside down T” designs ticked all the boxes and gave the windows and doors enough of a period look and traditional feel. A French grey finish transformed the Crittalls to give a much softer ambience.
